Hardware Description

Description

Oolite-MT7987A V1 Module is a mature MediaTek Filogic commercial discrete Wi-Fi 7 chipset, composed of the MT7987A network main processor, MT7990AN Wi-Fi 7 baseband chip, and MT7976C integrated dual-band RF front-end. Positioned as a BE3600 dual-band Wi-Fi 7 solution, it supports the development of multiple product types, including premium home routers, commercial ceiling APs, industrial gateways, 5G CPEs, and open-source development routers.

MT7987A (System Main Processor)

The MediaTek MT7987A is a world-leading network processing platform designed to deliver high-performance and reliable networking experiences in both wired and wireless applications. The MT7987A integrates a rich set of connectivity interfaces, including 1 × 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port, 2 × HSGMII/SGMII interfaces, 1 × PCIe 3.0 2L/1+1L interface, and 1 × USB 3.2 Gen1 port plus 1 × USB 2.0 port. The USB 3.2 interface shares resources with one HSGMII/SGMII interface, and only one can be active at a time. The MT7987A further enables seamless Wi-Fi 7 connectivity through its dedicated Wi-Fi 7 companion chip.

MT7990AN (Wi-Fi 7 Baseband Chip)

Standard BE3600 throughput specification: 574Mbps for 2.4GHz 2×2 MIMO plus 2882Mbps for 5GHz 2×2 MIMO with 160MHz channel bandwidth. It fully supports Wi-Fi7 features including MLO multi-link aggregation, 4096QAM, MRU, uplink/downlink OFDMA and MU-MIMO. Characterized by low latency and high client capacity, it is ideal for cloud gaming, 8K video streaming and whole-home Mesh networking.

MT7976C (Integrated FEM RF Front-End)

A single-chip solution integrating PA (Power Amplifier), LNA (Low Noise Amplifier) and TRSW (Transmit/Receive  Switch) for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, simplifying PCB routing and mitigating RF interference. It boasts excellent transmit/receive sensitivity and consistent output power, facilitating streamlined mass RF calibration while effectively improving wall penetration and long-distance reception performance.
